Artifacts and distortions in iSRD corrected images
In case you downloaded our SilverFast 8.8.0r9 update and experience issues similar to the image shown on the right, please download the update from our website again and reinstall it.
Please note that this issue can also occur with B&W images and certain dense Kodachrome films. In this case the issue occurs because the dense emulsion is blocking the scanner's infrared channel. (more info here)

My scans have stripes in them
There can be various reasons for stripes in an image.
1. Equally spaced, thick, red or blue lines.
Your SilverFast version might be using an outdated license.
- Open the Welcome screen's Service dialog
- Click the Reset SN and quit button
- Restart SilverFast and enter your most recent serial number
2. Fuzzy grey lines
These are most likely the result of dust on the lamp or sensor. Please consult your scanner's manual or manufacturer support on how to clean the device.
3. Fine, colored lines
These can be the result of electrical interference, especially from fluorescent lights, freezers, air conditioner, air fan, or similar devices.
Power strips with overvoltage protection can help to prevent this.
However, in some cases such stripes might be the result of a damaged device.

How do I copy selected settings using the JobManager?
You can copy selected settings using the copy&paste function in the JobManager.
It allows you to copy individual settings and options from one image to one or more others. It allows you to either copy manual settings or the auto adjustment you would like to use.
The automatic image adjustment (e.g. auto CCR) will then be individually executed for each image.

How do I set up a batch scan with my flatbed scanner?
To be able to batch scan your images, you first need to create individual scan-frames for each image. The easiest way to do this is using the "find frames" option in the frame menu.
Each frame has it's own settings. You can setup one frame and the use the "copy settings to all frames" option, also to be found in the frame menu.
To start the batch simply click an d hold the scan button to select batch-scan from the appearing pop-up menu.

Photoshop does not show the image's meta data correctly.
The meta data in SilverFast is written using the IPTC NAA-/IIM-Standard.
According to this standard the tags are written correctly.
Photoshop however uses its own format for metadata called IPTC XMP.
Unfortunately this causes Photoshop to show some tags incorrectly. |
