Issue: 1
First try installing the OSX Combo Update for your system.
This is known to solve several OSX issues because it re-installs all required components.
This should even be done if you already have the latest updates.
OSX 10.5:
OSX 10.5.8 Combo Update
OSX 10.6:
OSX 10.6.4 Combo Update
In a second step clear the font cache:
- log-in as the effected user
- open a terminal window (Applications/Utilities)
- In the terminal window enter. "atsutil databases -removeUser"
- you have to restart your Mac for this to take effect.
Last check your installed fonts with the "fontbook" utility (in Applications).
Mark all fonts and select verify from the tool menu.
remove or repair/re-install all damaged fonts.
Issue 2:
OSX 10.5 and 10.6 require at least SilverFast 6.6.2
OSX 10.7, 10.8, 10.9 and newer require at least SilverFast 8.0
