Simple Batch Scan in SilverFast

Batch scanning refers to automatically performing multiple scans subsequently. A flatbed scanner takes several photos, slides or film strips, which can be digitized all at the same time using the batch scan feature.

Batch Scanning will save a lot of time. Some scanners are even capable of scanning whole slide magazines automatically.

With SilverFast the simultaneous scanning of multiple originals is very easy. First of all you create all required scan frames or use SilverFast’s Automatic Frame Detection to do this for you. After the images adjustments are set, batch scanning starts as follows:

A quick mouse click on the “Scan” button starts a normal, single scan of the red, active scan frame. Holding this button down a little longer opens a menu, where the batch scan functionality can be selected. After releasing the mouse button, the batch scan will automatically start. Following the same procedure the mode can be switched back to single scan.

Some film scanners offer the functionality to automatically scan entire slide magazines.

The button “Overview” opens a dialogue, where the number of slides intended to scan can be specified in the “Settings”. A quick overview scan should be performed by clicking “OK”. All the slides that are not to be scanned can be deselected in the overview dialog. If the slides are very similar, it is sufficient to adjust scan frame and image settings for the first slide. These parameters will be also applied to all other slides. The Batch scan is started as follows:
