SilverFast 8 ADF Scan

ADF is an abbreviation for “Automatic Document Feeder“. The Nikon LS 5000ED / Super Coolscan 5000 ED film scanner is able to feed in small and medium format slides or filmstrips automatically. This means, the user does not have to transport the filmholder from image to image by hand, but controls the feeder with SilverFast 8. This manual describes how to use the SilverFast 8 ADF functionality.

Dynamic Range Increase with SilverFast Multi-Exposure

SilverFast Multi-Exposure records an original’s maximum Dynamic Range by performing a double scan with an increased exposure time of the second scan. This procedure captures the light image area’s details in the first pass and the shadow details in the second.

Using SilverFast Multi-Exposure, the number of detectable grayscales reaches very high values that can otherwise only be achieved by drum scanners.
