Woodstock Vision - The spirit of a Generation
|
From the legendary cover of Bob Dylan‘s Nashville Skyline, through the 1969 Woodstock Festival, right down to the iconic images of The Band, photographer Elliott Landy has had his finger on the pulse of the Woodstock Generation. He was there before the famous festival, hanging out with Dylan and The Band; he became photographer of record at the festival itself; and he still lives in the town of Woodstock today.

To coincide with the fortieth anniversary of the Woodstock Festival (which originally took place on a farm in Bethel, New York, seventy miles away), Landy offers a celebration, in words and images, of what he calls the "Woodstock Vision", a way of thinking and being that created the time so many look back on as the most important of their lives.
All the superstars are here in Landy's intimate backstage and onstage glimpses of rock's heyday: Dylan, The Band, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Joan Baez, Van Morrison, Richie Havens, and more. There are also other photos from Landy‘s career (celebrity parties, peace demonstrations) that highlight the idealistic vision of the counterculture.
In addition, Landy has created a special ninety-page photo commemorative of the 1969 Woodstock Festival selected from his personal archive. It includes first-hand accounts from the creators, builders, hippies, and straights that describe the spirituality, the trials and tribulations, and the sheer joy of being there.
Elliott Landy is a big fan of SilverFast scanner software. He has scanned many of his photographs used in his amazing Woodstock Vision book with SilverFast.
